An Impromptu Poem

Failure?

Failure seems to be a word that inspires discomfort and worry,

causing even the greatest to shudder and scurry.

Its presence has prescribed limits to hearts of men,

and constructed the scope of what life means to them.

The anticipation of its embrace would make the strongest lame,

replacing an undying pride with that of a mortal shame.

Although most fear it’s watchful and relentless gaze,

there are those who welcome it as an inverted praise.

With each failure these braves few will inevitably know,

that with each failure there is an opportunity to grow.
